Violets Cottage accommodates four guests.
Violets Cottage has the most spectacular views, is secluded and private with its own entrance, driveway, patio and garden.
Through the downstairs double doors you enter into the spacious open plan lounge/diner/kitchen.
The lounge has rustic walls and wooden floors with beams above. This comfy room has charm and character in abundance.
The countryside view is to die for from this airy light space.
The open-plan room has comfortable, modern furniture with coordinating soft furnishings and a flat screen television.
To keep you warm on chillier days it has a modern wood-burner (logs supplied on site at cost price). It also has individually controlled modern electric wall heaters in all rooms. All doors and windows have been recently replaced with new double glazing.
The kitchen is well equipped with an all electric cooker with four burner ceramic hob and oven, full size dishwasher, fridge with ice-box, separate freezer, air fryer, microwave/grill, and all the necessary crockery, glasses and utensils.
It also has a convenient breakfast bar and two stools.
Up the spiral staircase are the two bedrooms, bathroom, and the office/utility area.
The main bedroom has a double bed and looks out onto the most fantastic scene of the countryside.
The second bedroom has twin beds or can be rearranged with one single or one double bed.
This is a lovely peaceful room that looks out at the woods where quite often you will see
deer, pine martins and squirrels passing through the trees.
The spacious, multi purpose room has an entrance from the roadside. Another view across the valley.
It has a comfy chair with desk/table. A great peaceful place to sit and relax or to get online if you need to.
Also here you will find the washing machine and dryer and somewhere for your coats and shoes.
From this room is the shower room with sink, toilet and electric towel rail. Shelving is provided for spare towels and bedding.
Outside
Violets Cottage you have a fenced garden with a gate leading to the drive and a patio from the main doors.
A shady awning extends over the patio area when you need it. So even if it is hot you can still sit out
and enjoy a meal or a glass of wine in the shade.
The garden is completely fenced (appox. 1 metre, 3'6" height) if you are bringing your dog/s.
The cottage also has attached, a lockable storage room where the logs for the wood-burner, garden furniture - a table, four chairs and two sun loungers and barbecue are kept, but there is also plenty of room for your bikes if you bring them with you - this is a great area for cycling as long as you don't mind some challenging hills!
We also welcome cats and up to two well behaved dogs (depending on breed & size). Please talk to us before booking to make sure they will be ok to stay here. We want to be sure the situation here is suitable for them and they will be happy.
Please bring their own bedding, towels, covers and food bowls. There are great walks right from your doorstep.
Dogs must be cleared up after in the gardens and we would rather they were not left alone in the cottage unless you are very sure they will not be stressed in an unfamiliar place. We may be able to dog sit for short periods.
We love all dogs and cats, indeed we have a little girl cockapoo called Shanan (everybody's friend). We also look after a family of four wild cats (Mum, Dad and their two kittens) who live in the surrounding area and the old porcherie. We are gradually managing to tame them a little and one of the kittens (now over a year old) comes to play each morning and evening with Shanan.
We have ensured that
Violets Cottage is an ideal place to stay all year round. A peaceful, cool and shady place in summer
and a cosy and toasty warm place to stay in the colder months.
With the installation of a modern wood-burner, new double glazing, even more insulation and vmc pumps,
Violets Cottage
is damp and draft free and lovely and warm in Winter!
Electricity is charged for at cost price after each month.
We take a meter reading at the beginning of your stay and then at the end of each month.
Please note - Unfortunately electric or hybrid cars cannot be charged at our site because it overloads our power system.
The nearest charging point is outside the cinema at Peyrat le Chateau.
Things to bring with you - double duvet covers, single duvet covers (2ft 6ins. if required), pillow cases (oblong), sheets, towels, bathmat, tea cloths and oven gloves. We provide winter/summer double and single duvets, pillows and mattress covers.
Please note - One of the main reasons we came to this area to live was for the clean air.
We have found that our site is very tucked into the hills and gets little wind and so smoking in the gardens has become a problem as we do not smoke and Karen has serious health issues when in a smokey atmosphere.
Smoke drifts into gardens and particularly the accommodation when we have doors and windows open.
We have also become very aware now of the recurring wildfire situation each year and our property is surrounded very closely by trees and bracken. If a smoker were to decide to go out into the surrounding area for a cigarette,
as they cannot smoke on site, and did not dispose of butts carefully there really is a huge fire risk. For these reasons we have decided to make the Fontchauvaux site (in accommodation and all gardens) a no smoking site for the comfort and health of all who live here and would prefer not to accommodate smokers.
